Let’s Make the World Feel Better.

At Chiesi, we believe that the future of our business lies in integrating sustainability into our core strategy. This committment led us to become a Benefit Corporation and pursue B Corp certification to measure our impact.

Committment to Sustainability

For us, sustainability is the only way forward, which is why it is embedded in our strategic plan. We are committed to improving the quality of life for patients, protecting the planet, supporting communities, empowering employees and ensuring transparency. To support this mission, we launched "We Act - Actively Care for Tomorrow," a comprehensive sustainability program that involves our entire organization.

We Are a Benefit Corporation

Italy was the first country after the United States to adopt the Benefit Corporation (Societa Benefit) model, a legal framework that aligns business objectives with social and environmental responsibilities. Chiesi became a Benefit Corporation in 2018 in accordance with Italian Law No. 208/2015, incorporating into its articles four specific objectives related to its patients, community, employees, suppliers and the environment, along with a broader commitment to the common good.

Benefit Corporations are for-profit entities that aim to create long-term shared value. This model promotes an evolved economic paradigm in which business plays a critical role in regenerating society and the biosphere. Benefit Corporations are required to present an annual Impact Report detailing objectives and achievements aligned with their specific mission.

What is a B Corp?

B Corp certification, issued by the non-profit organization B Lab, is a voluntary certification that recognizes companies demonstrating a high level of social and environmental impact and provides a robust framework for evaluation. With over 5,000 companies in more than 80 countries, the B Corp movement uses business as a force for good. Achieving B Corp status requires passing a rigorous B Impact Assessment, evaluating a company’s impact on its workers, customers, community, and environment.

A Global Effort

Our B Corp certification, obtained in 2019, is a testament to our global commitment. Since 2018, all our affiliates have engaged in self-assessment and continuous improvement, culminating in our certification renewal in 2022. This process allowed us to identify and implement best practices across our global network.
