Parma, 22 September 2026 – Maria Paola Chiesi, Chair of the Board of Chiesi Group, has joined the Chairs of several leading healthcare companies in signing an open letter urging policymakers to consider investment in health and innovation as a strategic priority for Europe's future competitiveness, resilience, and health sovereignty.

The letter highlights the strategic importance of the pharmaceutical sector for Europe's economy, healthcare systems, and scientific leadership, while warning that the region is increasingly losing ground to other global markets in research, development, and investment.

The signatories call on European and national leaders to take action to foster innovation, accelerate clinical research, improve patient access to new medicines, and create conditions that attract long-term investment in life sciences.
