We focus our science on respiratory health, rare diseases and specialty care, where our expertise and capabilities can deliver meaningful progress for people. We actively listen to patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals to understand the realities of living with disease and reflect these insights in how we develop and deliver our solutions.
This means investing for the long term in research and development, translating scientific knowledge into therapies that improve patients’ outcomes and lives. Our Paolo Chiesi Research Center in Parma (Italy) integrates with six other major research centers in Paris (France), Chippenham (UK), Cary (USA), Lidingo (Sweden), Shanghai (China), and Toronto (Canada).
Our focus is rooted in more than 90 years of scientific progress, from Chiesi’s founding in Italy in 1935 to our global presence today with therapies and solutions available in more than 100 countries. Our areas of focus reflect both urgent patient needs and the scientific expertise, capabilities and long-term commitment we bring to addressing it.
Our annual investment in R&D has doubled since 2021, reflected in tangible scientific output, including 6,324 worldwide patents and 36 first filings at the European Patent Office in 2025, ranking Chiesi as the leading Italian pharmaceutical company for R&D investment and 11th among European pharmaceutical companies
Innovative solutions
We believe innovation doesn’t follow a single path; we combine our scientific expertise with strategic partnerships to advance our pipeline and deliver solutions that benefit patients today and in the future.
