Respiratory health
We understand that respiratory care is not only about managing the symptoms of respiratory diseases, but also about protecting the air we breathe. Air quality and climate change can directly affect people living with respiratory conditions.(1) At the same time, the way treatments are developed and delivered can also have an environmental impact.
At Chiesi, our ambition is clear: to keep advancing respiratory care while acting responsibly towards people and the planet.
For more than 40 years, we have focused on supporting people living with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other chronic respiratory diseases. This long-standing experience has shaped how we approach respiratory care today: combining scientific knowledge with a deep understanding of what it means to live with a respiratory condition.
Through continuous investment in research and development, we work to discover and improve treatments that can support better outcomes in everyday life. From helping people manage breathlessness to supporting independence and quality of life, we focus on what matters most to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals, while recognising that lung health and planetary health are connected, and that our responsibility is to create lasting, positive impact.
Living with a respiratory condition is not only about managing symptoms. It affects how people move, sleep, work, and take part in everyday life. That is why our approach focuses on supporting people beyond the clinical definition of these diseases, combining treatment, understanding of the complexity of their experience, and long-term care.
Asthma
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the airways and can cause breathlessness, wheezing, and coughing.(6) Symptoms can vary from day to day and may be triggered by factors such as allergens, exercise, respiratory infections, or air quality.(3,7)
We develop therapies and inhaler technologies designed to support better symptom management and disease control. Through research and patient-centred strategies, we aim to improve outcomes and support quality of life.
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a long-term respiratory disease that causes airflow limitation and can make everyday breathing more difficult over time.(5) For many people, COPD can affect daily activities such as walking, climbing stairs, or sleeping well, and symptoms may worsen during exacerbations.(5)
We develop therapies and inhaler technologies designed to support symptom management, help reduce the impact of exacerbations and address the everyday challenges of living with COPD.
