Looking Beyond the Boundaries of Chiesi

Building a healthier, more hopeful future goes beyond the medicines we develop. In the communities where we work, we want to help make everyday life better. That starts by listening to the people who live there and working together on what matters most to them.

Empowering communities

Across Chiesi's sites, we are committed to developing programmes shaped by the needs and aspirations of local communities. Because every community is unique, our initiatives take different forms, focusing on five key areas: education, environmental protection, cultural heritage, inclusion, and resilience. What connects them is a shared approach built on partnership, collaboration and the ambition to create lasting value.

€35.5M allocated to donations and social investments, equal to 0.98% of Group revenues in 2025
+ 20% overall increase in the value of resources distributed to communities (2025 vs 2024)

A partnership model in Parma

Parma, Italy, is home to our headquarters, a major research and development centre and a manufacturing site. It also offers a concrete example of how we work with a community over time.

Since 2015, the CASSC (Committee for Social Activities and Community Development) has been Chiesi’s dedicated governance body for supporting and guiding initiatives that create positive impact in the local community of Parma. It brings together different perspectives and expertise to assess and support projects that respond to local needs, foster community development and create shared value. Through dialogue with local stakeholders, the CASSC helps strengthen Chiesi’s connection with Parma community.

One of our most significant recent projects is the redevelopment of Vilma Preti Park in Parma’s San Leonardo district. Designed as an accessible place for people to meet, play and exercise, the project includes a multi-purpose sports court, an inclusive playground and an outdoor fitness area. The project will be completed in 2027 with the creation of an urban forest, further enhancing the park’s environmental and social value.

“At Chiesi, we are committed to generating not only economic performance, but also sustainable value for society and healthcare systems. This choice reflects who we are and brings together scientific innovation, a long-term vision and social responsibility.”
Maria Paola Chiesi, Chair, Chiesi Group

Chiesi Gardens

Nearby, Chiesi Gardens is transforming our first historic industrial site, established in 1955, into a new space open to the city. This regeneration project will bring together green areas, community spaces and the future Center for Open Innovation and Competence, creating a hub where innovation, collaboration and business can come together. It will strengthen Chiesi’s connection with San Leonardo district while supporting the Group’s future growth.

Other Parma initiatives span sustainability education, the restoration of the University of Parma’s Botanical Garden and support for people facing barriers to inclusion.

These projects are rooted in Parma, but the principle behind them applies wherever we operate: understand what matters to a community, work with the people who know it best, and invest in outcomes that can endure. For Chiesi, being purpose driven means putting that principle into practice, one partnership at a time.
