Parma, November 20th 2019 – Chiesi Farmaceutici, a research-focused international pharmaceutical Group (the Chiesi Group), today received the Diversity Leaders Award 2020 to become one of the top 70 global companies out of a sample of 700 evaluated. Out of the 300 companies in Italy, the Group ranked 1st among the 8 qualifying for the ranking. The news was announced in a dedicated article appearing in today’s edition of the Financial Times, which promotes the award.

The acknowledgment is designed to identify and enhance the value of leading companies whose policies and actions aim to raise awareness about the concept of Diversity as a fundamental value.

As part of a joint initiative with “Statista”, a leading German company from the international field of statistics, the Financial Times interviewed more than 80,000 people working for companies with a minimum of 250 employees in 10 European countries (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK) from April to August 2019.

Employees’ opinions were gathered through a questionnaire identifying the way in which age, gender, equality, ethnicity, disability and sexual orientation (LGBTQ) are managed in the company. All of the participants were also asked to what degree they believe their employer promotes diversity using a scale from 0 to 10. The level at which they agreed/disagreed with the statements was measured using the five-point Likert scale (a psychometric technique used to rate responses given in surveys).

The Human Resources Directors from every Company interviewed were also involved to further fine-tune the analysis.

"We are proud to receive this international award, a symbol that our company has already been recognised by its employees as a place where diversity and inclusion are not merely two concepts but are instead tangible - says Giacomo Mazzariello, Head of Global Human Resources & Organization, Chiesi Group - This is a starting point which gives us another push towards improving our policies globally,  aiming to ensure that all those forming part of the extended Chiesi “family” feel free to express their personal and professional potential”.
