Parma, 10th January 2020 – Chiesi Farmaceutici, an international research-focussed pharmaceutical group (the Chiesi Group), announces it is set to take part in Parma Capital of Culture 2020.

Key elements of Parma 2020 are promoting public-private partnerships and opening a dialogue among different companies: the industry and institutions combine forces for the local area. An opportunity which Chiesi, one of the main sponsors, considers fundamental both in terms of enhancing the value of the city’s historic and artistic patrimony and introducing a new long-term socio-cultural development strategy.

Chiesi has always been very active in Parma, also as a founder of “Parma, io ci sto!” association, which has played a key role in the nomination of the city as the Italian Capital of Culture with ideas and economic sponsorship.

Among the projects of the Parma 2020 Dossier, the Group is sponsor with other realities of “Imprese Aperte”, which aims at making companies and their peculiarities known to an enlarged audience of employees, tourists and students. This is for creating “Culture of the enterprise” in the territory and to develop “Culture in enterprise” by welcoming artistic and cultural projects to be hosted in the company spaces.

Following this line, over the year, Chiesi will firstly focus on the culture and history of Parma’s entrepreneurs through a project entitled “Pharmacopea”, created as a joint initiative with Davines, a leading company in the cosmetic field. The aim is to rediscover the Parma area’s chemical and pharmaceutical identity and to enhance the value of historic locations such as the Botanic Garden and the ancient San Filippo Neri pharmacy, whilst also getting to know the recent history of one of the city’s most important industrial sectors.

The Group will also support several cultural events beginning with the Verdi Festival, of which it has been main partner for years. The Company will open its doors for Verdi Off, a spin-off series of free events which will be hosted at venues other than Regio Theatre, distributed around the territory.

Lastly, Chiesi is taking part in the “Imprese Creative Driven” call, designed to strengthen entrepreneurship by generating a dialogue between industry, culture and creative sectors. In detail, “Creative driven” means those realities that develop services and create products through cultural and creative “processes”: where, therefore, culture and creativity interact actively with the logics of the enterprise. The Call provides support for up to 8 projects.

“Generating synergy and acting as a force for good with and on behalf of the communities in which it operates forms part of Chiesi’s DNA, particularly as a certified B Corp®” - comments Ugo Di Francesco, Chiesi Group CEO -. “Parma is first and foremost the city where our Company was set up 85 years ago and has gone on to become an international Group with 29 affiliates around the world. We believe that Parma 2020 represents a great opportunity for enhancing the city’s value and opening another window on our Company and the key role it plays in and for the benefit of the local area”.
