Alberto Chiesi was born in Parma on December 26, 1938. He is married and has two sons.

Dr. Chiesi took his undergraduate degree in Pharmacy at the University of Parma in1960/61, and he graduated in Chemistry in 1962/63.

From 1985 to July 2023, Dr. Alberto served as President of Chiesi Farmaceutici S.p.A. Today the Company counts more than 6,500 employees working in 31 different countries. The Group mainly focuses on the research in the biomedical field in which is invested over the 21.4% of its turnover.

Since 2001, Dr. Chiesi is the Coordinator of the Italian Group of small-medium Companies of Farmindustria, and since 2005 he holds the position in the Chairman’s Committee.

In 1993, he has been honoured by the President of the Italian Republic with the title of Cavaliere del Lavoro due to his entrepreneurial activity and his commitment in the field of R&D.

In 2015, Dr. Alberto together with his brother Paolo, has been awarded by the Ernst & Young as the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year in the field of Healthcare and Life Science.

In 2016 he has been awarded by the University of Parma with the Honoris Master’s degree in Administration and Management.

In 2020 he was named Knight of the Légion d'Honneur, the highest decoration of the French Republic. In the same year, he was appointed member of the General Council of the Cariparma Foundation.
