Taking a Stand: Our Global Commitment Against Workplace Harassment and Violence

Date: 29/11/2023

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women was observed globally on November 25th. To us, it is not merely a date on the calendar; it is a global call to action. It represents an opportunity to keep shedding light on the pervasive issue of gender-based violence that affects women worldwide.

Recognizing the far-reaching impact of these issues, Chiesi believes in taking a proactive stance to address and prevent them.

Last year, we took a significant step forward in this battle by launching our Manifesto against hostile behavior, violence and harassment at work, a series of initiatives that Chiesi seeks to undertake for the prevention of “gender-based” violence as well as against all forms of violence, particularly within the workplace and during work.

The manifesto was initially launched in Italy but today we are proud to announce the extension of the manifesto to all our 31 affiliates worldwide, marking a significant milestone in our journey towards creating a safer and more respectful working environment.

The manifesto outlines several key objectives, all aimed at creating a safer and more supportive workplace:

  1. Educating and Defining: It aims to educate and explain what is meant by gender-based violence and harassment, empowering our employees with knowledge and awareness.
  2. Transparent Reporting: Communication with transparency the procedures for reporting situations of gender-based violence and harassment at work ensures that employees know how to act if they witness or experience such situations.
  3. Providing Support: we are committed to granting all necessary support to address unacceptable situations of discrimination and harassment in the workplace, recognizing the importance of employee well-being.
  4. Empowering Managers: Offering managers a concrete opportunity to encourage their teams to express critical situations and feel safe in doing so is crucial to fostering an environment where employees feel supported and protected.
  5. Promoting Mindful Behaviors: Empowering individuals towards mindful behaviors, encouraging each of us to play a role in respecting and caring for one another, is essential for creating a positive workplace culture.

At Chiesi, we're taking a stand against violence and actively supporting gender equality, and we’ll continue fostering a workplace where everyone feels safe, valued, and empowered.
