Chiesi Foundation

Our commitment goes beyond the areas where we operate to improve the health and relieve the suffering of patients with respiratory and neonatal diseases in countries where access to quality healthcare is not always guaranteed. This is the mission pursued by the Chiesi Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded as an expression of Chiesi Farmaceutici’s social responsibility.

The Chiesi Foundation is active in the international cooperation sector by supporting scientific research and developing programs to transfer medical-scientific knowledge at a local level and to empower families in the healthcare process, promoting the right to health, sustainable development and ownership of local communities in the Global South.

The Foundation’s programs include the NEST (Neonatal Essential Survival Technology) model, which aims to reduce neonatal mortality rates by improving the quality of healthcare in countries with limited resources in sub-Saharan Africa, and the GASP (Global Access to Spirometry Project) model, which focuses on the development of specific clinical skills to diagnose and manage chronic respiratory diseases, such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Founded in Parma (Italy) in 2005 and operational since 2010, the Foundation today operates in Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Guyana, Ivory Coast, Nepal, Peru, Senegal, Tanzania, Togo, and Uganda.
