Rare Disease Day

Date: 28/02/2023

Today there are still many people who are completely unaware of the rare diseases’ world. For this reason, since 2008, the Rare Disease Day has been celebrated with the aim of spreading awareness on rare diseases and fighting for achieving healthcare equity for all the people living with a rare condition.

On February 28th or 29th, considered to be the rarest day of the year, the international rare disease movement raises its voice by spreading information, stories and events all around the globe that everyone who is willing to take part of the campaign, can share.

Participating in the celebrations of Rare Disease Day is an important step of the path towards equity in social opportunities, healthcare, and access to diagnosis and treatments for all the people living with rare diseases. All these goals are in line with the #3 of the 17 SDGs of the ONU 2030 Agenda.

On this special day, Chiesi Global Rare Diseases, business unit of the Chiesi Group dedicated to the innovation and research in the Rare Disease Area, participates in the celebrations by spreading the social campaign #PlayTheRareGame, realized in collaboration with the Parma Zebre Rugby Club and the association Make a Wish International.

Not only the Chiesi people, but anyone can take part in the campaign. By virtually throwing a rugby ball, everyone can contribute to making the wishes of kids living with a rare disease come true.

Chiesi decorated and lit up its sites with the Rare Disease Day colors.
