Our commitment to patients
Chiesi recognizes each patient as a unique individual and an integral part of the broader community we share. Patient care goes beyond drug development, encompassing the entire healthcare journey. To ensure our solutions meet real needs, we actively collaborate with patient communities, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders.
Our “Patient Journey” framework captures the full spectrum of a patient’s experience, from risk assessment and diagnosis to treatment and aftercare. It guides Chiesi’s processes and projects, ensuring patient needs are central to decision-making.
Health Equity
Health is a fundamental human right, yet social, economic, and environmental factors often create barriers to care. Chiesi’s Health Equity strategy aims to remove these barriers, promoting well-being for all across low-, middle-, and high-income countries. Chiesi’s Health Equity ambition is developed in the therapeutic areas we treat and around three key drivers:
Vulnerable Populations
We want to promote activities for vulnerable populations - groups facing greater barriers to accessing healthcare and higher risks of poor outcomes due to social, economic, environmental, or health-related factors - who often experience disparities that lead to higher prevalence, morbidity and mortality.
Access to Medicines in low- and middle-income countries
We aim to improve access to our products, especially in low‑ and middle‑income countries, as access to medicines is closely linked to broader access to timely and sustainable healthcare. Achieving this requires strong collaboration with governments and key stakeholders to make access a shared responsibility.
Multi-stakeholder partnerships
We want to promote collaboration across different stakeholder groups to advance health equity. By building cross‑actor partnerships, we aim to address key inequities and maximize impact.
Pricing Philosophy
At Chiesi, we are committed to ensuring that patients worldwide have access to high‑quality healthcare solutions.
We strive to balance the need for innovation with the highest standards of quality.
By collaborating with healthcare providers, governments, and other stakeholders, we aim to create a pricing strategy that reflects our dedication to improving patient outcomes and fostering long‑term partnerships.
Global Health
Aware of the huge inequalities in access to appropriate care in resource-constrained settings, Chiesi wants to be part of the change in bridging gaps to reduce the burden of neonatal mortality.
Our Global Health team focuses on increasing access to quality treatments for premature newborns and their families in Sub-Saharan African countries. We aim to achieve this by establishing a sustainable business model that ensures the long-term accessibility and availability of life-saving neonatal medications.
This innovative model reinvests in capacity-building programs, including training and education of healthcare professionals, to strengthen the local healthcare systems.
To ensure equitable access and generate a broader impact, multi-stakeholder partnerships are essential. We focus on collaborating with various stakeholders, including local governments, clinical communities, parent associations, multilateral organizations, nongovernmental organizations, and international donors. We strongly believe that every newborn counts, everywhere, and together we can make a difference.
Paolo Chiesi Foundation
